CCSCT Observes 45th Anniversary of National Weatherization Day

Community Council of South Central Texas informs the community on the benefits and achievements of their Weatherization program.

This October 30, 2021 is the 45th Anniversary National Weatherization Day! The public is invited to learn more about the Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP), the work being performed by dedicated members of the Program and the services it provides to low-income households in our area.

The importance of the Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) cannot be over emphasized. The Program prioritizes service to the elderly, persons with disabilities, and households with children. Since its inception in 1976, more than 7 million households have received energy efficiency improvements, such as heating and cooling upgrades, the addition of insulation, air sealing, improved home air quality and safety gains. The Program comprises a comprehensive series of energy efficiency measures that are based on sophisticated analyses of individual homes. These analyses take the whole-house approach, which maximizes energy and dollar savings. Because of this rigorous approach and analyses backing it up, weatherization has become a leader in advancing home energy science delivering energy-efficiency services to low-income households. WAP serves every county in the nation through its network of state and local agencies. CCSCT Weatherization Assistance Services are offered in the counties of Dimmit, Edwards, Kinney, La Salle, Maverick, Real, Uvalde, Val Verde and Zavala.

The Community Council of South Central Texas, Inc. (CCSCT) is a private, non-profit corporation that has been in existence since May 11, 1965 and began serving New Braunfels residents in 1965.
