CCSCT Staff Accept Leadership Roles at State Association

The Community Council of South Central Texas management, staff and Board Members attended the Annual Texas Association of Community Action Agencies (TACAA) Conference in San Antonio on May 16th-18th. Each year, Community Action Agencies throughout the state of Texas come together to discuss new funding requirements and changes, best practices, agency challenges and future opportunities, while focusing on ways to better serve the clients throughout their service areas.

During this year’s conference, Executive Director, Bobby Deike was elected by TACAA Members to serve as Secretary on the Executive Committee of the Association. He currently represents CCSCT on the Board of Directors and is an Executive Committee Member serving in the position of Representative-At-Large Urban Corporate Member. Weatherization Program Director, Robert Moore, was elected to serve as Secretary in the Program Sectional for Energy and Housing Sector. He has also been appointed to serve on the Weatherization Committee. Kari Pastrano, Director of Human Resources, facilitated two training sessions focused on HR hot topics, including the Department of Labor’s recent change to the Fair Labor Standards Act overtime rule and was asked to present at the TACAA Board of Directors Meeting in July 2016. She is also an active member of the TACAA Human Resources Workgroup. CCSCT also earned an award recognizing the agency for having the 3rd highest number of TACAA memberships in the state of Texas. Overall, sixteen staff members and two Board members, Lisa Collins and Deborah Wadle, attended this year’s conference.
