Staff Meet with Local Legislators at State Capitol

Community Council of South Central Texas’s staff were in Austin on February 21st, along with several other Community Action Agencies across Texas, as part of the Texas Association of Community Action Agencies legislative day at the Capitol.

The morning started with the Texas House of Representatives passing HR 311, a resolution recognizing community action agencies throughout Texas for the work they do. Over 70 community action staff and Board members from across Texas were present to be recognized.

Following the passing of the resolution, staff attended scheduled meetings with the Senators and Representatives from their districts, one of which was State Representative John Kuempel from District #44 in Seguin. The meetings were an opportunity for CCSCT to inform their legislators about the services their local agency offers and how they can help their constituents and also to discuss how the agency can partner with their office in the future to improve outcomes across the state.

Other meetings that day included meetings with Senator Peter Flores District #19, Senator Dawn Buckingham District #24, Senator Donna Campbell District #25, Representative Ryan Guillen District #31, Representative Andrew Murr District #53, and Representative Tracy King District #80.
