DESCRIPTION:The Community Council of South Central Texas\, Inc. (CCSCT)\, in partnership with Workforce Solutions Alamo\, Coastal Bend College and Alamo Colleges is developing a Self-Sufficiency Fund Grant funded by the Texas Workforce Commission. \nThe Self Sufficiency Fund provides training grants for industry recognized certificates and credentials that lead to permanent full-time employment.  \nThe Self Sufficiency Fund program assists adult recipients of Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits\, and individuals earning less than $37\,000 annually with a dependent child (custodial or noncustodial) or an individual at risk of becoming dependent on public assistance. \nCCSCT and Coastal Bend College will host a meeting for Employers in Advanced Technology/Manufacturing and Biotechnology/Life Sciences industries to provide an overview of the grant\, determine training needs of employers and seek Letters of support from interested employers.
