$8,000 Union Pacific Grant Boosts Support for Veterans and Housing Stability

Community Council of South Central Texas announces Reserve Fund support from various entities.

South Central, TX: In an effort to establish a reserve fund for pursuing reimbursement-style grants, CCSCT reached out to community-focused organizations for support. Reimbursement grants can be difficult to fund for non-profits, but the benefits of having community programs such as CCSCT’s Housing Stability and Veterans Financial Assistance programs, are definitely needed. Union Pacific stepped in to help in this effort by awarding the group with an $8,000 Community Ties Giving Program grant.

These grants and donations will provide support for CCSCT’s  homelessness prevention programs that assist low-income residents and veterans with rental and mortgage payment assistance, and housing stability services including: shelter services, short-term stays at hotels, moving expenses, rental application fees, rental security deposits, pet deposits, utility payment assistance, and case management.

The request for support is currently ongoing; however, CCSCT is grateful for the generosity from businesses, municipalities, and civic groups throughout their 31 county service area that have answered the call for support including; Union Pacific Community Ties Giving Program, Guadalupe Regional Medical Center, Walmart Kerrville, Walmart Floresville, Woodmen of the World, Woodmen Life, Wilson County, and the Cities of: Hondo, Jourdanton, Eagle Pass, and Cibolo. CCSCT extends a heartfelt, “thank you,” to all the donors that have contributed to helping prevent homelessness, these partnerships are instrumental in helping local families thrive.

CCSCT is a non-profit community action agency that empowers vulnerable families and individuals in the greater South Central Texas area to achieve self-sufficiency by eliminating barriers through innovative programs and strong community partnerships. Counties serviced include; Atascosa, Bandera, Bee, Brewster, Comal, Crane, Culberson, Dimmit, Edwards, Frio, Gillespie, Guadalupe, Hudspeth, Jeff Davis, Karnes, Kendall, Kerr, Kinney, LaSalle, Live Oak, Maverick, McMullen, Medina, Pecos, Presidio, Real, Terrell, Uvalde, Val Verde, Wilson, and Zavala.
