CCSCT Receives $315,000 Texas Workforce Commission Grant

Community Council of South Central Texas to continue impacting local families through job readiness programs.

SEGUIN, TX: Community Council of South Central Texas is proud to announce that they are recipients of the Texas Workforce Commission Self Sufficiency Grant. The support will assist the organization to further impact the lives of our area’s impoverished, by providing educational access to job related certifications that will aid individuals in securing employment and becoming self-sufficient.

CCSCT Executive Director Bobby Deike stated, “This Program epitomizes CCSCT’s Mission Statement which reads: CCSCT empowers vulnerable families and individuals in greater South Central Texas to achieve self-sufficiency by eliminating barriers through innovative programs and strong community partnerships.”

TWC Commissioner and Chairman Bryan Daniel was on hand at the grant presentation and commented that programs provided by organizations like CCSCT give the emerging Texas Work Force “…the skills necessary to earn competitive, high-demand jobs in the healthcare industry and give the community the tools needed for economic success.”

Eligible participants will receive soft skills development, job readiness training and support through services at Workforce Centers operated by Workforce Solutions Alamo, Alamo Colleges-CTTC and CCSCT. Supportive services may include child care, transportation, gas vouchers, bus passes, emergency rent and utility, mortgage assistance, job referrals, tools, equipment or other work related expenses. This will aid participants in the transition from training while removing barriers for employment.

Individuals that may apply are adult recipients of Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, and individuals earning less than $37,000 annually with a dependent child (custodial or noncustodial) or an individual at risk of becoming dependent on public assistance. Counties serviced by the Self-Sufficiency Program include: Atascosa, Bandera, Comal, Frio, Gillespie, Guadalupe, Karnes, Kerr, Kendall, McMullen, Medina and Wilson.
