CCSCT Receives Generous Grant from Tyson Foods to Support Seguin Head Start Kid’s Garden
Seguin, Texas – Community Council of South Central Texas (CCSCT) is proud to announce that it has been awarded a $4,914 grant from Tyson Foods, Inc. to support the creation of a Kid’s Garden at the Seguin Head Start Center. The grant approval was confirmed by the Tyson Foods Charitable Giving Committee.
This investment will help CCSCT bring hands-on nutrition education and fresh produce access directly to young children and families served through Head Start. With more than 26,000 residents experiencing food insecurity in Guadalupe County, including 7,700 children, this initiative will provide an enriching learning space where children can plant, grow, and harvest fruits and vegetables while developing lifelong healthy habits.
The Kid’s Garden will include raised beds, tools, curriculum materials, and interactive activities designed to strengthen early childhood education and promote family engagement. Produce harvested from the garden will be shared with families to support access to nutritious food at home.
“We are deeply grateful to Tyson Foods for believing in this project and in the wellbeing of our children,” said Julie Cantu, Head Start Program Director. “This garden will be a joyful and educational space that nourishes minds, bodies, and our entire Seguin Head Start community.”
CCSCT extends its heartfelt thanks to Tyson Foods for their continued commitment to strengthening communities, fighting hunger, and supporting meaningful educational initiatives across Texas.
