CCSCT RELEASES UTILITY ASSISTANCE APPLICATIONS FOR 2024

Light Bill Assistance Program Underway for 2024 Funding Cycle.

South Central, TX: Community Council of South Central Texas is proud to announce the availability of funding for the Comprehensive Energy Assistance Program (C.E.A.P.) provided by the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs. Funds are available to assist qualified families in the following counties: Atascosa, Bandera, Brewster, Comal, Dimmit, Edwards, Frio, Gillespie, Guadalupe, Hudspeth, Jeff Davis, Karnes, Kendall, Kerr, Kinney, LaSalle, Live Oak, Maverick, McMullen, Medina, Presidio, Real, Uvalde, Val Verde, Wilson, and Zavala.

The Comprehensive Energy Assistance Program (CEAP) combines education and financial assistance to help low-income consumers reduce their utility bills. Services include utility payment assistance for electric, natural gas, and propane.

In addition, CCSCT will assist with water bills through LIHWAP (Low Income Water Assistance Program). Applicants may qualify for payment of their current water bill balance, as well as an additional $85 per month through September 2024. Applicants must also attach their current water bill and billing history to their Utility Assistance application to apply for water bill assistance.

Applications will be accepted at our offices starting the week of January 22, 2024. Due to a decrease in funding, we are only assisting priority 1 households with limited amounts of funds.

CCSCT assigns priority to households with the least amount of income and the greatest energy costs. Priority is also given to vulnerable individuals 60 years and over, persons with disabilities and families with children five years of age or under. Eligible families may qualify for assistance up to $1,600. Non-vulnerable population households will receive up to 6 monthly payments; while vulnerable population households may receive up to12 monthly payments over a program year. In addition, households may qualify for HVAC appliance heating and cooling repairs for up to $7,500.

At this moment, application processing volume is high and turnaround is taking longer than normal.  Due to this high demand, we humbly request our client’s patience.  You may pick up an application at your local CCSCT office on their designated pick up days, or download a copy at, https://www.ccsct.org/utility-assistance-apply-for-services/ . Only complete applications with all necessary documents will be processed. Submitting an application is not a guarantee of assistance, we advise applicants to continue to pay their bills on time.

A list of County offices and contact numbers are available on our company website at www.ccsct.org. Please contact your specific county for questions, as each office has different processing schedules and procedures.

In 2023, CCSCT helped over 13,500 individuals and families in 6,620 households with an investment of  over $12 Million dollars.
