Expanding Horizons: CCSCT Extends Vital Services in Big Bend Region

South Central, Texas: Community Council of South Central Texas is proud to announce that it has been designated as the 2024 CSBG Contract Subrecipient by the Texas Department Of Housing And Community Affairs for the counties of Brewster, Hudspeth, Culberson, Jeff Davis and Presidio (Big Bend Region).

Currently, CCSCT operates the Weatherization Program in the same area, and is happy to extend more services to the community. Clients are encouraged to apply to see if they may qualify for CEAP utility assistance, rental assistance, case management and other direct services as needed. Executive Director Bobby Deike stated, “CCSCT is excited about the opportunity to expand services in the Big Bend area through funding made possible by the Community Services Block Grant. CSBG allows Community Action Agencies, like CCSCT, to provide support services that alleviate the causes and conditions of poverty in under resourced communities. CSBG focuses on the reduction of poverty, the revitalization of low-income communities, and the empowerment of low-income families and individuals in rural and urban areas to become fully self-sufficient.”
