Light Bill Assistance Program Underway for 2025 Funding Cycle
South Central, TX: Community Council of South Central Texas is proud to announce the availability of funding for the Comprehensive Energy Assistance Program (C.E.A.P.) provided by the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs. Funds are available to assist qualified families in the following counties: Atascosa, Bandera, Brewster, Comal, Dimmit, Edwards, Frio, Gillespie, Guadalupe, Hudspeth, Jeff Davis, Karnes, Kendall, Kerr, Kinney, LaSalle, Live Oak, Maverick, McMullen, Medina, Presidio, Real, Uvalde, Val Verde, Wilson, and Zavala.
The Comprehensive Energy Assistance Program (CEAP) combines education and financial assistance to help low-income consumers reduce their utility bills. Services include utility payment assistance for electric and natural gas.
Applications are now available online by downloading a copy at https://www.ccsct.org/utility-assistance-apply-for-services/ and at your local CS office. Due to a decrease in funding, we are only assisting priority 1 households with limited amounts of funds. Clients must schedule an appointment to turn in their application at their local CS office. Clients in Maverick, Val Verde, and Zavala Counties will need to call 1-844-887-9241 to schedule an appointment starting January 28, 2025. All other counties should contact their local CS office for an appointment.
CCSCT assigns priority to households with the least amount of income and the greatest energy costs. Priority is also given to vulnerable individuals 60 years and over, persons with disabilities and families with children five years of age or under.
At this moment, application processing volume is high and turnaround is taking longer than normal. Due to this high demand, we humbly request our client’s patience. Only complete applications with all necessary documents will be processed. Submitting an application is not a guarantee of assistance. We advise applicants to continue to pay their bills on time after submitting an application.
A list of County offices and contact numbers are available on our company website at www.ccsct.org. Please contact your specific county for questions, as each office has different processing schedules and procedures.
In 2024, CCSCT helped over 12,064 individuals and families in 6,008 households with an investment of over $7.8 Million dollars.
