CCSCT Raises $6,000 for Veterans During Online Auction

Community Council of South Central Texas hosted their “Auction for Action” online fundraiser benefiting the Veteran’s Financial Assistance Program.

Given the current Covid-19 limitations on in person events, CCSCT looked online to raise much needed funding to help local Veterans. Early February, CCSCT hosted their “Auction for Action” on the online application, “Better World.” The event raised $4,000 from the auction, and $2,000 in private donations. All funds will benefit the Veteran’s Financial Assistance Program; which as of news time, has helped over 100 Veteran families remain in their homes.

Veterans Financial Assistance Program Coordinator, Kenneth Loy, expresses the importance of the fundraising efforts, “…we are raising funds to prevent homelessness amongst vulnerable Veterans.  Your donation will be used to stabilize housing and ensure access to utilities and transportation by Honorably discharged Veterans.”

Auction items were donated from the surrounding communities- ranging from premium coffee bags to a 5 day/4 night stay in Cancun. Supporters placed their bids all week, leading up to the last few seconds when the auction closed at 8pm on February 12. CCSCT would like to thank all the sponsors that helped make this event a success including; Black Rifle Coffee Company, Natural Bridge Caverns, The Home Depot, Jordan Ford, Karnes Electric Cooperative, Messina Hof, The Alcalde Hotel, Napa Auto Parts, Henry Rifles, Cancun Cards, Tractor Supply Co., Skeeter, Vaughan, Magic Bait, Jeff Chicoine State Farm Insurance, and Harbor Freight Tools. In addition, CCSCT would like to thank our Board of Directors, Volunteer Staff and of course, our bidders for their generosity and support.
